Aminiature refrigeration system being developed by researchers at Purdue University would be small enough to cool microprocessors in the PCs of tomorrow, which scientists assert may generate up to 10 times more heat than today's chips. While other cooling technologies exist, of course, researchers say the key advantage of miniature refrigeration over other cooling technologies is its ability to cool below surrounding temperatures, which could result in smaller, more powerful computers and reduce long-term heat damage to chips.
