摘要

There are various well known and well documented Hardware Defined Radio (HDR) receiver architectures such as Heterodyne, Homodyne and Low-IF, each offering unique advantages and some drawbacks. They all share characteristics and operate by mixing or down-converting RF signals to lower, more manageable IFs in a dual conversion or single conversion architecture. Down converting RF signals to low IF or baseband signals in the analogue domain has often been necessary due to limitations in ADC technology. Until recently, commercial ADC sampling frequency, analogue input bandwidth and input track-and-hold wideband noise performance has not been sufficient to realise many SDR applications.
