Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. (AnalogicTech), based here, and TransDimension (Irvine, Calif.) are independently rushing out silicon solutions that they hope will give them a head start in the emerging market for USB On-the-Go (OTG) chips. AnalogicTech bills its AAT3125 as the first integrated power-management solution to provide power and port protection for the OTG specification. TransDimension touts its OTG242LP as small in footprint and low in power consumption. The device consumes as little as 20 milliamps during operation and is said to enable high USB throughput while keeping CPU utilization at a minimum.
