RAID controllers eye SAS storage

To accelerate the transition to next-generation serial-attached SCSI (SAS) storage, Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. has developed a pair of PCI Express-based SAS RAID-on-chip controller ICs for the entry-level and volume server markets. The VSC7250 features eight PCI Express and eight 3-Gbit/seeond SAS ports; the pin-compatible VSC7251 offers four PCI Express lanes and four 3-Gbit/s SAS ports.
