摘要

Adaptive array antennas are widely used in wireless communication. While the beam-forming networks are available on the market, effective beam-forming algorithms, which consider the general propagation influences, optimize the antenna performance. This paper focuses on the electromagnetic radiation and applies a synthesis algorithm based on radiating pattern matching to assure a maximum gain in the desired beam direction. Even losing control on side-lobes, the algorithm is particularly applicable in situations where side-lobes are controlled by reflecting surfaces. Its potential applications in the design of smart antenna and phased array are studied and discussed to demonstrate its validity.
