GE Smart Grid Technologies help One Island achieve Greater Energy Independence

Vineyard Energy Project (VEP) has selected GE Profile appliances enabled with Brillion technology and Nucleus energy manager with Brillion technology to help consumers manage energy use, while helping Martha's Vineyard create a more self-sufficient grid. Smart grid technologies will help VEP achieve long-term goal of operating an independent power grid, fueled by local renewable energy. Energy independence is about more than reducing oil consumption. GE announced that dozens of consumers on Martha's Vineyard will receive GE's Profile appliances and Nucleus energy managers with Brillion technology to help them more efficiently manage their energy use and costs, while helping Vineyard Energy Project (VEP) and the Vineyard Power Co-Op understand the role of smart grid technologies in operating a more independent power grid.
