A welcome power-factor contribution

Bill Travis' "Devices clean up power factor in ac/dc supplies," (EDN, March 1, 2001, pg 99) was both concise yet comprehensive and outstanding. Travis described the introductory issues of power factor very well, and I had never before seen the "parallelpiped" diagram. His description of the power-factor-correction IC controller's internal functions and operation were superlative.
