A few years ago, I was working with servo controls for winding 20-foot-wide rolls of paper from pulp to paper and processing. Servo loops with various feedback and monitoring devices hydraulically con trolled the rolls. When you wind paper, the ten sion on the surface has to decrease as the diameter increases. Otherwise, when you remove the roll from the spindle, it could shoot across the room and possibly kill someone.
