Exposed nonmetallic-sheathed cable runs must closely follow the building surface, or, where necessary, be protected against physical damage by guard strips, pipe or metal or nonmetallic raceways. Is there a limit to the length of raceway that can be used as mechanical protectibn for nonmetallic-sheathed cable? Where stubbed up through the floor, the raceway or pipe protection shall extend at least 6 inches above the floor [334.15(B)]. A fitting is required at each end of the pipe or raceway to protect the cable from abrasion [300.15(C)].
