摘要

This article presents a wide-area controller for automatic voltage regulators. The controller is designed for damping the power system inter-area oscillations. A centralized wide-area controller is designed considering the time delay of both the remote measurements and control signals. The controller design is based on the disturbed state-space model with reduction of the disturbances to a vector that excites the inter-area modes of oscillation. The controller design is achieved using the H_∞ linear matrix inequality control method, which guarantees the robustness of the controller to system disturbances. The wide-area controller is designed and tested for the 16-machine 5-area study system.
