In addition to thousands of tons of reinforcing steel and concrete, nuclear plants need heavy nuclear components, also called ultra large forgings. During the last nuclear buildout, nuclear constructors imported many of those ultra large forgings from other countries such as Japan and France. But now,rnas companies make plans to build new nuclear plants in the next decade, some companies are preparing for the potential of a long-term nuclear boom by investing in component manufacturing facilities now. Once projects get the green light and are able to break ground, at least four new U.S. facilities will be able to provide many of the components for the first nuclear powerplants to be built in this country in more than 10 years.rn"These companies are committing to large investments, which shows they believe these nuclear plants will come online at some point," says
