"Just one round," sang the supporters of Rafael Correa, who had led the opinion polls heading into the first round of Ecuador's general election on October 15th. Now they are grateful there will be another. With more than 90% of the votes counted, Mr Correa, an America-bashing friend of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, had just 23%, behind Alvaro Noboa, a pro-American banana tycoon, with 26.2%. So voters face an unattractive choice of contrasting populisms in a run-off on November 26th.
