Having rested for six weeks after cranial surgery, Cristina Fernandez marked her return to presidential duties this week with soft toys and hard men. She released a video made by her daughter in which she thanked well-wishers for their presents, including a cloth penguin, the emblem of her home province in Patagonia, and a (real) fluffy puppy named Simon (after Bolivar, Venezuela's independence hero) sent by the brother of the late Hugo Chavez.
