A sense of unease spread across the Korean peninsula as North Korea became ever more bellicose. It said it was preparing for a "state of war" with South Korea; threatened to restart its Yongbyon nuclear reactor; and stopped workers from the South entering the Kaesong industrial park, which is in the North but supervised by both governments. The United States and South Korea boosted their defences and warned the rookie dictator, Kim Jong Un, of the consequences of any attack.
