Marissa Mayer, Yahoo's boss, was chastised in your leader columns for laying down an edict that requires employees to come into the office ("Mayer culpa", March 2nd). You pointed out that Google's workers generate three times the revenue per person compared with their counterparts at Yahoo. Yet Google operates an enormous network of private buses equipped with Wi-Fi to shuttle its employees from San Francisco and other points around the Bay Area to its head office. Perhaps Google knows something about the value of having staff show up to work.
