OLED Display Screen Technology in the Military

There is often a scene in old war movies where some soldiers are crammed into a bunker, shells bursting around them as they try to read a crumpled, old battlefield map. They are trying to see what is just over the hill or just past a tree line. The map they rely on is outdated, dirty, creased and difficult to read. A mistake can be catastrophic. In the more modern army of today, one would expect that the old map has been replaced by something electronic. There is much hope that electronics will eventually provide soldiers with a better alternative. For instance, a flat display screen attached to a communications system could conceivably bring the soldier a real-time look over the hill and an entire encyclopedia of other critical information.
