The fragmentation of a telecommunication market based on using systems with different standards and frequency bands - each with its own set of signal bandwidths, dynamic range and inter-modulation requirements - has made their mutual interaction impossible even in the most critical emergencies. This situation, combined with an explosion in the use of wireless networks (both licensed and unlicensed), has created an urgent need for developing a transceiver that is frequency agile and standard independent. These requirements are made technically achievable with the introduction of True Software definable Radio systems where all signal processing is done in software by converting the received signals into digital form immediately after an antenna - making all transmitter and receiver operations fully re-programmable.
