The SS Nomadic, the ship which tookpassengers to RMS Titanic fromCherbourg Harbour, is undergoingrestoration works this month which will becarried out by its original builders, Harland& Wolff. Titanic Foundation, the charityset up to preserve and promote Belfast’smaritime and industrial heritage includingthe development of Titanic Belfast, ownsthe tender to RMS Titanic and appointedHarland & Wolff to carry out the works onthe ship that they completed in 1911.The SS Nomadic is now included in theTitanic Belfast Experience, giving visitorsthe chance to step onboard the world’sbiggest RMS Titanic artefact. A quarter ofthe size of the iconic passenger liner, theNomadic has many of the same ornatefeatures and finishes and was completedin 1911.
