Preliminary port figures for November 2007 show a y-o-y growth of 11.6% in global container handling activity - marginally higher than the past month's growth. Revised throughput figures for October have resulted in a slight downward revision in global handling to 11.5%, as compared to Drewry's previous estimate of 11.6%. The major Chinese ports recorded an impressive 19.3% growth in container handling over the same period. Key US ports continued their dismal performance in November; throughput at major American ports fell by almost 5%.
