The US and China have recently signed a deal whereby the latter will open up its market for North American LNG. The main reason for this deal is that in the current oversupplied market, producers in the US are desperately looking for buyers, and China’s strong gas demand provides them with a good option. Moreover, the recent deal is also crucial for many of the planned LNG projects in the US as a cargo offtake guarantee would help project partners to raise finance.
