Drewry expects LNG spot prices and shipping rates to remain strong in January after hitting $12 per MMBtu and $200,000pd respectively in December. Asian LNG imports are expected to increase in January buoyed by colder temperatures and higher demand from the power generation sector. China in particular will import more LNG in the month, ahead of the Lunar Moon festival holidays in February.
