Gas-to-liquid first for 'super-clean'diesel

Boskalis group member SMIT's harbour tug Smit Elbe, which works in the Port of Rotterdam, has become "the first in the Netherlands" to run on gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuel, said the company. "GTL fuel is a synthetic fuel, produced from natural gas by chemical transformation. It's clean, non-toxic, biodegradable, and does not contain nitrogen or sulphur," it noted. "GTL Diesel's pollution-free with no sulphur, aromatics, or toxic ingredients - so pure that one can even drink it; [it's] simply hydrogen and carbon."
