Made in Transit

摘要

In looking for a unique angle on a ubiquitous reality, I wondered how inevitable long-distance journeys could be considered in the design of a product. Typically, design for transport means design for lightness or for compactness, driving innovations in lightweight materials and in new ways of stacking, folding, deflating and flat-packing. I wanted to find something else, for no matter how efficiently goods are packed, merchandise in transit is trapped in a state of hibernation - it's essentially dead matter awaiting the factory or the consumer.
