For a high-level and internationally famous magazine like Domus, I reflected from the outset on how the editorial team could keep up to date with global developments in the specific fields of architecture, interiors, design and art. I was aware of the system in place up till then, with international correspondents who sent in regular bulletins on developments in their regions. This method, in my view, did not guarantee sufficient monitoring of work that could be classified as "excellent" because it prefigured new trends or was of high quality - or because it highlighted coming innovation which was not yet mature or in evidence in the work itself but which let you guess at a new path in the creative process. We needed to find individuals who were intellectually prepared to investigate the sources determining and motivating the trends and developments in these processes.
