• Wall and floor finishes, inside and outside, have always played a decisive role in the spatial, formal and theoretical definition of architecture, the establishment of its identity; but while in the past the choice of a finish was determined almost always by artisan skills along with the historic, climatic and artistic factors of the place it came from, today these construction identities have gone beyond the territorial dimensions to assume universal and diffuse connotations.%Le finiture murarie e pavimentali, esterne e interne, hanno sempre avuto un ruolo decisivo nella definizione spaziale, formale, teorica e identitaria dell'architettura; ma, se nel passato la scelta di una finitura è stata determinata quasi sempre dalle specificità artigianali, storiche, climatiche e artistiche del luogo di appartenenza, oggi queste identità costruttive hanno superato la dimensione territoriale per assumere connotazioni universali e diffuse.
