Mark Porter: a blurred line between virtual and real

Will imagery substitute the written word? We can already see that our culture is becoming more visual. Young people on social media have evolved a new language of communication based on photos, video and filters, and they are unlikely to revert to text. But of course it is a question of emphasis. I imagery won't ever replace text completely. Along with audio, it will become more and more dominant. Eventually text may become something for academic and administrative use, not for everyday life.
