The principal business of IDEA is supporting the organizations involved in the district energy industry. Our members have been participating in this industry association for 94 years to strengthen their business relationships, identify new opportunities, learn and apply innovations to improve operations, and demonstrate organizational excellence. IDEA uses many different approaches to further the industry: disseminating information, educating and training members through workshops and conferences, promoting member achievements, and advocating for policies and legislation favorable for district energy and combined heat and power. Information tools include this magazine, our newsletter, District Energy Now, and our Web site . In addition, we recently initiated a list-serv for members to interact electronically. The goal is to engage the diverse strengths of our members in a direct marketplace of ideas, so information is routinely routed among seekers and providers.
