If you have ever been skiing in the Rocky Mountains of the western U.S., then you have seen terrain that is awesome and majestic, challenging and exhilarating, and at times, even downright daunting and dangerous. Today, the energy and environmental policy terrain in Washington, D.C., feels a little like the expansive back bowls of Vail, Colo.: wide open with exciting opportunities, but risky for the uninitiated - even dangerous for the unprepared. The Obama administration's new emphasis on clean energy as economic stimulus has been in some ways like the exhilaration that builds as your chairlift ascends to the summit.
