Nottingham System Gains Steam, Intends to Expand

The district heating system in Nottingham, United Kingdom, could serve up to 3,000 additional properties with the extra steam created when a third line of incineration is built by Waste Recycling Group. Enviroenergy, the city council-owned company that runs the district heating system, has the right of first refusal on the steam and intends to take up the option, subject to contractual and price negotiations. The expansion is expected to provide the system an extra 24 MW of steam energy. As part of the plans, the system would have to install another turbine at its London Road site.
