Detroit Steam System Signs Medical Center

Detroit Thermal purchased Detroit's district heating system from DTE Energy in 2003. Since that time it has invested more than $29 million in the system's underground pipeline network and has added new customers to the system. Most recently the Detroit Medical Center - including the DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital and the DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan - signed an $80 million, 10-year contract to purchase all of its steam needs from Detroit Thermal.
