Conference highlights IDEA2020:'New Vision for District Energy'

The Alexandra District Energy Utility (ADEU) is an ambient-temperature district energy system that delivers heating, cooling and domestic hot water preheat services to residential and commercial customers in the West Cam-bie neighborhood. The overall goal of the system is to reduce the city of Richmond's carbon footprint and help meet the targets set in the Community Energy and Emissions Plan, which includes reducing the community's greenhouse gas emissions by 33 percent by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050, relative to 2007 levels. The first two phases of the ADEU were completed in 2012, and since then the city has assessed sustainability performance and identified opportunities for expansion.
