Electric lift trucks much cheaper than propane trucks, and some laggards make the switch

Electric lift trucks are the dominant type of forklift used in distribution centers, with a small number using liquid propane (LP) trucks. DCs looking to reduce operating costs would be wise to replace their LP trucks with electric, says Carl Modesette of Cat Lift Trucks. Add in the costs of fuel and ventilation systems to clear out the LP trucks' exhaust, and the total cost to operate an electric lift truck is less over five years. But LP lift trucks are still enticing, because they carry significantly lower upfront costs.
