Vacuum fluorescent displays (VFDs) are formed as vacuum triode tubes constructed within a planar glass chamber. During light emission, a grid controls thermal electrons that are released from a cathode. When these electrons collide with phosphor atop the anodes, the collision releases energy, resulting in light emission.Using voltages from 12V to about 60V, VFDs produce clear, bright displays that are easy on the eyes. Among the outstanding characteristics of VFDs are their ability to operate across a wide temperature range from -40° to 85℃, their strong resistance to humidity, their superior reliability, their wide viewing angles, and their excellent legibility. VFDs form compact, self-emitting display components that excel in beautiful, easy-to-see display of text and icons. Offering a high level of freedom in design, and simple custom application, VFDs can serve in a wide range of situations.
