Sharp Introduces Aquos Line of 20-, 15- and 13-inch LCD TVs

Continuing its strategy of developing flat panel LCD TVs to compete with traditional CRT sets in home and commercial markets, Sharp has expanded its LCD line-up with the new models LC-20C1, LC-15C1 and LC-13C1 in 20-, 15- and 13- inch screen sizes, respectively. The use of liquid crystal displays, the company says, enables TV design engineers to develop thin, lightweight and space-saving products that fit consumer's lives in new ways. For one thing, viewers can easily carry these TVs from room to room to watch television wherever they want. A related benefit is "address-free setting," which means the TVs can be installed to hang on walls, or be suspended from the ceiling or placed on a floor stand. The result is a new approach to TV installation not possible with bulky, conventional CRT TVs. The new models, which will accommodate digital broadcasting, all feature high-brightness, low-reflectance black TFT liquid crystals for clear, bright pictures in all viewing locations. These sets can be viewed from any angle and in sunlit rooms or, for commercial applications, in store window displays.
