In the context of rapid social and economic de-velopment, the total population is also increasing. China has a large population base and during the daily production and life process, a large amount of domestic sewage and industrial pollutants will be produced. These pollutants and sewage flow through rivers and enters the lake, causing serious pollution to the surrounding lake basin environment. As the viability of the lake basin is greatly reduced, in order to maintain the sustainable development of the lake basin environment, the article analyzes the ecologi-cal environment and economic development of the water system in the Huaihe River basin. In this re-search process, the GDP per capita is mainly selected as the social and economic indicators, and industrial and domestic sewage discharges are selected as the water environment indicators. In-depth analysis of the actual situation of pollutant discharge in the Nansi Lake Basin is carried out. On this basis, the optimal model is determined by comparing and se-lecting five different goodness-of-fit indicators, and the interaction relationship between the indicators is analyzed according to the Kuznets curve(EKC).The fitting curve trend of industrial wastewater discharge and GDP per capita in the Nansi Lake area, a tribu-tary ofthe Huaihe River,shows an inverted U-shape, which is mainly manifested in the phenomenon that the discharge increases first and then decreases with economic growth. At the same time, the inflection point appears when the GDP per capita is 33459 yuan. Domestic wastewater discharge and domestic NH3-N discharge have not shown a downward trend and have not yet reached the turning point. Accord-ing to the research results, the water system environ-ment in the tributary basin of the Huaihe River should focus on the treatment of industrial wastewater, domestic wastewater, and domestic NH3-N pollutants.
