Senate appropriators seek to add $65 million to ABMS budget

The Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee's mark of the fiscal year 2022 spending bill, released today, showed lawmakers want to direct $269 million toward the service's push to enable the Defense Department-wide Joint All Domain Command and Control initiative - above the $204 million the Air Force had asked for in its fiscal year 2022 budget request. The report accompanying the panel's draft bill showed that of the proposed $65 million boost, $15 million would go toward a general program increase, while the remaining $50 million is tied to digital infrastructure. The potential increase would follow a fiscal year in which lawmakers slashed funding for the program in their FY-21 Omnibus Appropriations Act, cutting the $302 million the Air Force requested down to $159 million.
