Army developing counter-UAS training academy at Ft. Sill

The Army's Fires Center of Excellence will be creating a counter unmanned aircraft system academy focused on training common systems at its headquarters at Ft. Sill, OK, according to service officials in the Joint C-UAS Office. The academy will "standardize best practices and refine common core lessons" in a tiered educational construct based on four levels, Lt. Col. Dave Morgan, who works within the requirements and capabilities division of the Joint C-UAS Office, said Oct. 30 at a virtual industry open house. The first level will be focused on C-UAS awareness, system identification, threat and basic operations, followed by two higher levels of training for staff and leadership at battalion, squadron and brigade group level. "The 400-leveI classes aimed at the E-6 promotable, [warrant officer] one and first lieutenant and above ranks at the brigade and group level and with [subject matter experts] that have a firm understanding of joint capabilities," Morgan said.
