Mueller Water's i2O acquisition heralds future of integrated intelligent networks

In June, the American fluid handling giant Mueller Water Products acquired UK-based network analytics start-up i2O for approximately $20 million. The deal may result in a new fusion of network efficiency technologies, signalling another step forward in the coalescence of smart water solutions. As a result of the acquisition, Mueller Water can now offer solutions across the whole spectrum of digital leak management technology. i2O's expertise in pressure and flow logging technology, advanced pressure management systems and data analytics fills a gap in Mueller's leak management portfolio, which hitherto focused on active leak detection, pipeline condition monitoring and smart analytics. Mueller Water already offers a wide range of smart water solutions across its various brands, including Echologics acoustic condition monitoring and Sentryx data analytics. Though no detailed plans have yet been announced, these existing products make a natural fit with i2O's solutions.
