Austin re-establishes key DOD advisory boards

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is directing several Pentagon advisory committees to resume their activities following a "zero-base" review he ordered earlier this year amid reports that former President Trump had used them in a lame-duck attempt to reward loyalists. Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said today Austin has ordered several advisory boards and committees to resume their activities. Those which traditionally have an impact on major defense acquisition programs and initiatives include: the Defense Business Board, the Defense Policy Board, the Defense Science Board, the Army Science Board, the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board and the U.S. Strategic Command Strategic Advisory Group. Other boards being re-established include: the Medicare Eligible Board of Advisers, the Defense Department Board of Actuaries, the Defense Health Board, the DOD Wage Committee, the Marine Corps University Board of Visitors, the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services, the Inland Water Ways Users Board, the Board on Coastal Engineering Research, the Uniform Formulary Beneficiary Advisory Panel, and the Defense Advisory Committee on the Investigation, Prosecution and Defense of Sexual Assault in the Armed Services.
