Low-loss polarization-maintaining solid-core anti-resonant fiber in mid-infrared region

摘要

This study demonstrates the polarization-maintaining (PM) solid-core anti-resonant fiber (SC-ARF) in mid-infrared region (MIR) for the first time. Numerical simulation results indicated that the fundamental mode (FM) birefringence could be induced by filling the designed structural model with different materials. With the optimized cladding tubes thickness of 0.82 μm, fiber presented the birefringence coefficient (Δn) about 1.56?×?10?5and the confined loss (CL) less than 0.1 dB/m, which are of great importance in polarization-sensitive systems. Moreover, by increasing the tubes number and adjusting the incident laser wavelength, the reducedCLvalues and band-pass performances were observed, which could significantly promote the fabrication of PM filters in MIR.
