Shallow Parsing Approach to Automated Grammaticality Evaluation

Grammar-checking is a concept of interestin many natural language environments. It typicallyinvolves the evaluation of the grammaticality oftransmitted messages, be it written or verbal.Automated grammaticality evaluation is theexamination of natural language text for grammaticalaccuracy using computer software. The current studyexamined the different approaches adopted incomputational linguistics for evaluating thegrammaticality of texts. The categories of approachesexamined are those within the shallow parsing inducedgrammar approach. The study tried to show the trendso far and the possible direction for the future.
