Atypical paronychia: don't forget herpesvirus

Paronychia is usually caused by bacterial infections.Herpetic whitlow is an acute infection of the fingersor toes caused by herpes simplex viruses and ittypically presents with vesicles. We report the case ofa 78-year-old woman with gingivostomatitis andatypical paronychia in several fingers withoutblisters.
