Covid 19 pandemic unveiling the opportunities and challenges in orthodontic training

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted everysingle aspect of society, with most professionshaving to rapidly adapt to the new circumstances,and these were affected at different levelsdue to specific demands of contamination control.In the USA, OSHA (Occupational Safetyand Health Administration) early on classifiedDentistry as a ‘very high-risk’ category, havingdoctors, staff and patients themselves exposed toaerosol-generating procedures. Clearly, this contaminationrisk not only impacted orthodonticpractice, but also orthodontic training.
