Since the COVID-19 pandemic started in December 2019, gastroenterologists have had to rapidly evolve their endoscopy practice to ensure the safety of endoscopy team members and their patients. Because the virus is trans- mitted via droplets and potentially via airborne inhalation of aerosolized particles, endoscopic procedures performed on patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 increase the risk of transmission to healthcare providers.
