As in the United States, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) graduates in Brazil are expected tobe key players to translate new knowledge into practice in order to improve patient safety, quality care,and cost effectiveness.1–2 The graduates are anticipated to be able to synthesize credible researchevidence and apply clinical practice innovations to patient care that is tailored to patients’ needs,while taking into account the complexity of the social, economic, cultural, and healthcare systems.1–2Thus, the expectation is for the DNP graduate to be an effective leader in a changing and complexhealthcare environment.3 As the role of the DNP evolves and new opportunities emerge, the evolutionof the DNP nurse holds promise for the acceleration of evidence-into-practice initiatives.
