POSúDENIE MIKROBIOLOGICKEJ KVALTY VZORIEK ZMIE?ANYCH MEDOV ZO SR A INYCH KRAJíN SVETAEXAMINATION OF MICROBIAL QUALITY OF MIXED HONEY SAMPLES FROM SLOVAKIA AND OTHER EU COUNTRIES
The aim of this study was evaluation of microbiological quality of honey, which originated from Slovakia and other EU countries. Our experiment was centred on the quantitative determination of coliforms bacteria (CB), total plate count (TPC), anaerobic sporulating bacteria (ASB) and microscopic fungi in the 14 honey samples. Filamentous microscopic fungi (FMF) were identified at the genus level. Plate dilution method with individual culture conditions was used for microorganisms of interest. Average values of TPC in the honey samples of Slovak origin (382 CFU.g-1) and from other EU countries (937 CFU.g-1) exceeded the permissible limit in the Slovak Republic (102 CFU.g-1). Average values of ASB, yeasts and FMF in the honey samples of Slovak origin were: 2.60 log CFU.g-1, 1.97 log CFU.g-1 and 1.74 log CFU.g-1, respectively. They were higher in comparison with honey samples originating from the other EU countries. This difference is probably of apiary origin since majority of honey samples were of Slovak origin. All honey samples of non-Slovak origin were commercial. Penicillium sp. was detected as the most frequent FMF in honey samples, particularly in 28.57 % of samples of Slovak origin and in 71.43 % of samples of non-Slovak origin.
