Neuroinflammation is common in many demyelinating diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and inherited leukodystrophies. Mesenchymalstromal cells (MSCs) can modulate innate immunecells and potentially limit neuroinflammation. Human umbilicalcord tissue is readily available and a rich source of rapidly proliferatingMSCs. In this study, we hypothesized that human cordtissue-derived MSCs (hCT-MSCs) can inhibit the progression ofdemyelinating diseases by suppressing neuroinflammation.
