Analysis of Blood Subsets Deriving from Neonatal Cord Blood and Adult Blood, Focusing on the Developmental Age of Hematopoietic Stem Cells and Natural Killer Cells
Although it is known that fetal hematopoiesis and developmentof lymphocyte subsets, such as natural killer (NK) cells occur indistinct waves, resulting in a restricted set of hematopoieticfunctions, it remains unclear how these physiological transitionscan be translated in transplantation settings. Cord blood(CB) contains a higher percentage of immature or immunologicallynaive lymphocytes than adult blood (AB) and studies haveestablished that NK cells/T cells have a major impact on theoutcome of umbilical cord blood transplantation.
