Introduction: Incidence of oral squamous cell carcinoma is increasing in individuals less than 45 years. Similar trend is alsoobserved in India.Objectives: To discuss the etiological factors for oral squamous cell carcinoma in young adults.Materials and Methods: A literature search of electronic databases: MEDLINE, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Database ofSystematic Reviews, and Wiley InterScience was carried out from September 2019 to December 2019. Original researches andreview articles regarding etiology and risk factors were included. 32 articles were selected for this literature review.Conclusion: Tobacco and alcohol are the main etiological factors in young adults also. Chronic trauma, Genetic predisposition,Nutritional deficiency, Poor oral hygiene Human papilloma virus etc are the other important causative factors.
