Role of built heritage in 20th century planning and development of eurocentric urban areas

Built heritage preservation and town and regional planning emerged onscientific bases in the process which lasted until the late 20th century. The role of builtheritage in town and regional planning has essentially changed in that time. It can bepartly explained by developing of scientific methodology of each of the disciplines, andpartly by global changes and subsequently emerging challenges.
